I Think This Is What They Call “Irony”

by Mrs. Chicken on September 23, 2007

I know I said I wasn’t going to write anything new this week, but I’m stealth-blogging while my husband is at Mass and my mom is sleeping in.

This was too good not to share.

We went to Indy yesterday, to the mall where the infamous no-diaper incident took place. This time, I came over-prepared, with at least six diapers in my bag, two packs of wipes and extra diapers in the car.

I was smug when The Poo needed her diaper changed – this time she kept all feces contained – and found a family restroom with a changing area.

As I was wiping her adorable bottom, I glanced at a sign on the paper-towel dispenser:

“Diapers Available Upon Request At Guest Services.”

That’s right.

All we had to do was ask for a diaper at guest services. Instead, I sacrificed my panties, panties that have never been the same since they were twisted up to knot around the hips of a two-year-old.

Guest services.

Oy.

Ha. That’s the way it always goes. But at least you and the Poo have a great story to tell. :) Love the new digs btw.

Blinded by panic?
Maybe it’s a new sign?
Someone was standing in front of it last time?

Who cares. It was a great story with an even better ending now :)

I’ll wager that is a new sign…

Brilliant! We all feel your pain on this one, Mrs. Chicken!

P.S. Loving the new digs! Sorry I’ve been MIA, but we’re still settling into our new place as well!

Maybe you were the inspiration for the sign – and the free guest services diapers…..????

Too funny. Just hilarious. Hope you had a good time anyway.

Don’t you like to think that they heard about “The Poo” (ha ha. That name is so much funnier now!) and added the sign?

I’ve had similar “Oh SHIT” we’re out of diapers moments. Luckily they weren’t quite so, um, public.

Yep. Irony, all right.

Hee, hee! Of course you see that sign now.

Did you go to the mall in cognito?

Redneck Mommy September 26, 2007 at 1:30 pm

Love the new site design girl!!! Looks great!!!

And is it wrong of me to laugh my ass off at the thought of how you must looked when you saw the sign? Snicker.
