Crafting 911

by Mrs. Chicken on October 30, 2007

Not too long ago, my sister called and asked me to measure The Poo’s waist. My girl is lucky enough to have a very talented auntie, who makes her Halloween costumes from scratch every year.

Last year she was a sassy girl-pirate, and this year she will parade about the neighborhood as Angelina Ballerina.

So.

I needed a tape measure to get my sister an accurate number. The Poo and I ventured out one recent Sunday morning to the Huge Craft Emporium to procure said item.

I’m so jealous – I love Angelina Ballerina. My girl is going as Hannah Montana. What can I say? She’s getting all tweeny on me.

That money was totally well spent. Think of all the thousands of uses for pipe cleaners.

Look at the Poo in her bunny rabbit ears over there on your flickr!!! She’s so cute!

Haha. Oh sorry. That must be what Angelina Ballerina is. A mouse? Not a rabbit. I’m outta the loop.

First of all, *love* Angelina Ballerina. Awesome costume for the Poo!

As for the crafty accoutrements… I agree with your commenters over at GNMP, they will make a great Rainy-Day Craft Box for you girls. Get some sort of bin or box that you can stash it all in (and stow under the bed or up in a closet, away from little fingers). Then you guys can make all sorts of things!

If you want to give her something that will produce an actual, recognizable end product, you can head back to your Huge Craft Emporium for some kraft-paper picture frames (they look like they are made from brown grocery bags) or paper mache memory boxes. Then the Poo can glue any of her little doo-dads to the object, and voila! Easy-peasy handmade gift for the holidays for anyone who loves you and your girl.

I went in for a washable ink stampad (major stamping mishap the other day- my daughter had blue hands for about 48 hours) and came out with $40 worth of stuff.

How do they suck us in like that?

BTW, those ink pads aren’t cheap!

I have a friend that is anti-glitter and that is for adults! We make cards and scrapbook and she won’t touch anything with glitter on it.

Let the Poo’s imagination run wild! I love the idea about the paper plates and only giving her some at a time. A whole package of googlie eyes might be overwhelming.
