Simple Gifts

by Mrs. Chicken on November 11, 2007

The Poo and I discussed Santa Claus last week, when a gift my husband ordered for our youngest nephew arrived in the mail.

She asked what was in the package, and I told her it was a shirt.

“Aaaawwww,” she said, “I wish I could have a present like that!”

I told her Santa would be bringing her some gifts in a few weeks, and then I asked what she might like to have for Christmas.

This is her list:

Two shirts

Two books

Minty chocolates

God, I love that kid.

Minty chocolates? Think of the options… Andes Candies’, Frango Mints, Peppermint Patties! You could have fun with that.

My 5 year-old nephew once wrote a list requesting “underwear, a robot, new socks, puzzles for Alex (his brother)”

Too cute!

Also, I’m totally with The Poo on the minty chocolates thing.

How utterly practical.

That’s a fabulous list! What a doll!

The Poo rules! Sadly, my girl’s list is a bit longer…

A completely lead free list.

My girls are like that, asking for socks and such. They also like to ask for gifts for their siblings.

I love this time of year — how innocent and sweet.

Now I covet your daughter and her simple Christmas gift list.

Wanna trade? I promise my kids only have say, oh, one HUNDRED or more requests….

Christina November 11, 2007 at 12:49 pm

That’s easy enough. And she has good taste too – minty chocolates? Yum!

Did you also breath a huge sigh of relief?

I know somebody who’s child asked for an Elephant for christmas. A real one.

Hetha November 11, 2007 at 3:50 pm

Well I don’t plan on telling Ethan about Santa Claus just yet. Is that bad?

Lisa Milton November 11, 2007 at 5:33 pm

Sounds like Zack. He often asks Santa for shoes. I love the look on the guy’s face, like I set him up for it. It’s sincere. I hope it lasts.

So sweet. Looks a little like my list would these days. =) My Boy once asked for Books, a goldfish and new sneakers.

that’s so cute! my oldest boy (2.5 years) keeps asking for Thomas the train for Christmas…so it’s up to mommy and daddy to decipher which ones are unleaded!

Sarcasta-Mom November 11, 2007 at 8:05 pm

That’s so sweet. :)

I’m sure it will grow in the next month. lol

Minty chocolates! You’ve got one smart girl, Mrs. Chicken!

Shannon November 11, 2007 at 8:19 pm

Excellent Christmas list!

Colleen November 11, 2007 at 8:33 pm

Love her list!!!

You know you have to make sure she gets every single thing on that list, right?

lbotp November 11, 2007 at 9:56 pm

I just got a hankering for Mint chocolate chip ice cream. Maybe Santa can bring some of that too. I can give leave directions for him at your house as to how to get to mine.

Amanda November 11, 2007 at 10:11 pm

So sweet.

motherofbun November 11, 2007 at 10:18 pm

Awww. Do you think you can lock Poo into that list? Because those toy commercials will soon be airing at a frantic pace. You’d be saving a bundle. heehee

Arkie Mama November 12, 2007 at 12:00 am

Think she’ll share the minty chocolates?

Smart girl, learning to request the chocolate early!

momto4kidsny November 12, 2007 at 10:39 am

A girl after my own heart! I always ask for chocolate for Christmas! Her list is so doable!
As for those commercials my kids watch them all the time and have yet to ask for them! They have this belief that not everything on the TV is real unless otherwise said by Mommy or Daddy! And yes we have gone and told them this about the commercials as well! Its worked so far!

Katherine November 12, 2007 at 12:18 pm

How sweet! A smartie with a sweet tooth what’s not to love?

Janet November 12, 2007 at 10:02 pm

Awesome.

I miss those days, where Christmas lists were pure and simple with no negotiation required.

the new girl November 14, 2007 at 8:05 pm

Come ON with the Minty Chocolates.

How cute is that??
