Sick Leave

by Mrs. Chicken on March 8, 2008

Went to the doc yesterday after a few scary dizzy spells, and holy baloney, no wonder I feel so wretched.

Sinus infection.

Bladder infection.

Anemia.

I’m eating Keflex and iron pills, and I’m taking advantage of all the pity and laying on the couch like a pregnant spud. See ya next week sometime.

PS – Shaggy woke up yesterday, doing flips and fluttering. Even the second time around, there is nothing quite like it.

Peace out.

Sinus infections suck, especially on top of being pregnant. Take it easy. Do some horizontal parenting!

I had constant sinus problems while pregnant on top of everything else. I felt like I could barely breath. It just sucks! So glad that you could feel Shaggy (who I refer to as Jane b/c I am routing for my daughter’s name, unless it is a boy, of course) moving around. That does make the sucky parts worthwhile.

I hope you feel better soon!

It’s been a tough week for C-U moms. Creeping crud, sinus infections, anemia, UTIs, and tilting uteri, oh my! Hopefully next week will be better.

Cynthia March 8, 2008 at 8:43 am

oh sweet pea….I’m so sorry. Take care and indulge yourself as much as possible….

slouching mom March 8, 2008 at 10:05 am

Damn, A. Take care of yourself, OK? Otherwise I’m going to have to fly out there and take care of you myself!

Sandy March 8, 2008 at 10:20 am

Wow.

I hope you feel better soon. In the meantime, enjoy the rest!

Lisa Milton March 8, 2008 at 10:31 am

Feel better soon.

And those backflips – the best part of pregnancy, hands down. They could keep the rest, but I loved that feeling.

sam March 8, 2008 at 10:50 am

Ugh. I thought I had it bad!!

I wish you a quick recovery – but not too quick so that you can enjoy the down time. Well, as much as you can enjoy it while sick.

Ah, forget it. Get better!

Hello!
I found you through NaBloPoMo and have recently been reading regularly.

I enjoy your writing but holy moly is right! I am sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. I had a months-long sinus infection last year. NO FUN! I hope you are able to overcome the infections quickly and are feeling better soon!

Blessings,
Stacy

Jordan March 8, 2008 at 1:07 pm

Feel better – take care of yourself! Aw, love just hearing about the flips!

becky March 8, 2008 at 1:21 pm

I hope the infections clear up soon! And the anemia will get better as you take in the iron! So far it seems like Shaggy is coping my pregnancy from Sam so know you are not alone in this cause I have been here and done this! Take care of yourself, relax and we will see you when you are back on your feet!

Heather March 8, 2008 at 2:51 pm

Sorry about the infections and the anemia, but hooray for Shaggy being felt moving around!

MsPrufrock March 8, 2008 at 3:28 pm

As if being pregnant isn’t taxing enough.

I hope you feel better soon.

amanda March 8, 2008 at 3:33 pm

Janet March 8, 2008 at 3:36 pm

Those first kicks and flutters were my favourite part of each pregnancy (even the retched third one).

Feel better.

Feel better, take care of yourself. Life can give you detours and take you down when you least expect it. Drink lots of fluids and drink chicken broth..it breaks up the mucus Flem it really helps.

Hope your one the mend soon.

There is nothing worse than being sick while gestating.

Hopefully Shaggy will cheer you up with his antics as you recuperate.

Feel better soon!

mayberry March 8, 2008 at 5:39 pm

Yikes — take care; glad you’ve got the good drugs coursing rhrough your system now too.

Sus March 8, 2008 at 8:05 pm

way to count your blessings (flips and flutters) from the depths of your despair (uti’s and sinus infections). feel better.

Jenni March 8, 2008 at 8:07 pm

Oh how exciting! The flips and flutters part, not the other junk.

cathy March 8, 2008 at 11:32 pm

Yeah about the flips and flutters… I love hearing how this pregnancy is going for you because I won’t have another, and it’s cool to hear you being bewildered and humbled by the weirdness all over again.

I wish you speedy recovery from the ailments. I wish you ease with The Poo during that time. I wish a return of your appetite — just because that might make things easier.

rachel March 9, 2008 at 1:27 pm

I remember that I was just as excited, awed, wowed and stunned by the power of the little one inside me the second time as I was the first time.
I hope you recover soon!! Poor Mrs. Chicken. I feel so badly for you, at least you know now what was ailing you.

Clinkin March 9, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Uck…Rest up and enjoy every flick and flutter!

Bipolarlawyercook March 9, 2008 at 3:47 pm

Maximize the being-taken care of thing. You deserve it.

andi March 9, 2008 at 5:29 pm

All 3? Holy crap, you must feel awful.

In my second pregnancy I had a sinus infection, that morphed into an ear infection, that resulted in one of my ear drums exploding and I lost hearing in that ear for 6 weeks. Isn’t this growing of little people fun?

Hope you feel better soon.

Aimee Greeblemonkey March 9, 2008 at 8:17 pm

CRIPES! Your poor thing. Feel better soon!

But have I mentioned my BFF, NeilMed Sinus Rinse for the sinus infection? I need to get paid for my referrals because I talk about them so much, but it is the BEST.

mamatulip March 9, 2008 at 8:25 pm

Oh, man. Rest up, love. I’ll be thinking of you.

*HUGE HUGS*

… though be thankful they’re only cyber-hugs, because you don’t want my bugs on top of all of yours (I started working in a creche… go me? O.o)

YAY for Shaggy!!! ^_________^ I remember the first time my sister let me feel my nephew kick… it was so amazing… damn, I can’t wait to be pregnant… @_@

Take it easy, drink LOTS of orange juice and get some spinach and some good rare steaks into your diet. Feel better sweetheart, and come back soon.

Reading your blogs are the highlights of my days. ^_^

Jennifer March 10, 2008 at 12:37 pm

Ugh. Feel better soon. Your preganancy sounds so much like mine with my second.

Those first fluttery movements really are the best, aren’t they?!
