A fully-stocked refrigerator.
The spot on my husband’s neck, just below his ear.
When my jeans feel loose around the waist.
White ankle socks.
My daughter’s eyelashes.
A freshly made bed.
The green mug I drink my coffee from every day.
My son’s new smile.
Apple computers.
Reality TV shows.
My mother’s homemade lasagna.
My plaid pajama pants.
Acts of compassion.
My sister.
The watch my parents gave me when I graduated from college.
My wedding band.
Autumn.
Words that go together just so.
And you? What do you love this fine Wednesday morn?

Preston’s sense of humor, even though he’s 40 kinds of sick.
Cloudless blue skies and cool temperatures

Acetaminophen - I don’t want to live in a place where you can’t get Tylenol. It squashed my fever and body aches last night so I didn’t have to waste vacation time on a doctor appointment.

The squeals and coos of my baby testing out her voice.
My oldest child’s sunny disposition and friendly attitude.
Listening to my son sing songs.

A seven-year-old who still kisses me goodbye in the school yard.
A nine-year-old who tells me to have a good day every morning.
The warm autumn sun on my back as I walked E. to preschool this morning.
A two-year-old who didn’t cry when I left.
Actually sitting down to drink my coffee.
A job that lets me work from home in yoga pants.
Homemade blueberry muffins.

Cool autumn morning run.
My wife happy and laughing.
The way my kid’s eyes light up.
A cold beer after a long day in the yard.
The smell of mulch.
Doughnut holes.

The weather- what a beautiful day! (Wish I wasn’t at work.)

I just went through the worst hurricane in the Texas gulf coast since 1983. I am about 85 miles north of Ike’s landfall.
~ I am thankful for the cool weather.
~ I am thankful that my electricity and water were restored in less than 48 hours.
~ I am thankful that I am able to help my neighbors.
~ I am thankful that my house was undamaged.
~ I am thankful that I know that my family is safe.
~ I am thankful.

I love being with my 30 year old daughter and feeling proud of the woman she has become.
The sounds of kids laughter, especially at summer camp.
Summer camp.
My 4 year old granddaughter’s hugs and the smell of her freshly washed hair.
My family (most of the anyway)
My friends, especially Frances who has been my BFF since we were 3 (ahh, that means 54 years now!)

Oh, many favorite things that I can’t ever list them all. A few off the top of my head-
*My new puppy
*The bottle of cheap, fruit flavored wine waiting for me at home in the fridge
*Having healthy, happy (most of the time) kids.
*A nearly full tank of heating fuel to start the winter with
*Warm apple pie
*Back rub from the hubby
And so on, and so on…..

My 10-month-old son’s laugh when I tickle him, both the look and the sound of it.
Giving him his nighttime bottle in the rocking chair, and the ease at which he goes down afterward.
The conversations I can now have with my daughter and her brilliant pontificating.
Running by the lake in the mornings.
My husband’s hair (it’s so thick and awesome) and his sense of humor.
The excitement on my children’s faces when I pick them up from daycare.
Autumn, when it’s finally highs in the low 80s, rather than low 100s
September 17th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
The hugs I get every morning from the kids at work.
10-month-old Siyanda’s smile when I pick him up and rub my forehead against his.
The laughter that comes out of all-so-serious Lesego when I dance with her.
Seeing 11-month-old Brandon’s utter pride in having figured out the whole walking thing.
My nephew finding new words and expressions every day.
Lemon poppyseed muffins.
A nice hot cup of rooibos tea.
Setting my nephew down to sleep this evening, and knowing I’ll soon be curled up on the blow-up matress next to him in blissful slumber.

I love how my son presses the button on his exersaucer that plays music and then waits for me to dance, rewarding me with a great big smile and then another whack! to start another song after it.

Meant to post this earlier, but …
– being able to read a book for even just five minutes.
– watching The Boy crawl after the cat. He’s just mastered it.
– getting funny little e-mails from my husband during the day.

I love my shy 6 year old son say “I have 2 girlfriends, but don’t tell them it’s a secret.”
