He’s nine months old today. Out as long as he was in—longer, actually. He came just a little bit early.
I went to the doctor for my weekly monitoring and ultrasound. The doctor came into the exam room, and told me we had to go that day.
“So,” she said, crazy grin on her face. “Wanna have a baby today?”
This week I went back in my archives and re-read about the day I could have lost him, marveling at the fact that I ever once doubted that I had enough love for this boy in my heart. He is my boy; I love him as fiercely as he does me.
He is my roughneck, my marauder. He adores his sister and loves to eat paper. His favorite food is spaghetti and he loves to splash in the bath. Dogs and other babies make him laugh, and so does his daddy. He is not quite yet who he will be, but we love him all the more for who he is, right now.
Right now today, at nine months.
