On our last day on The Cape, I finally got some time to shoot in Provincetown, at the very eastern edge of the peninsula. As my sister says, you can’t miss P-Town–if you keep going, you’ll fall into the ocean.

Provincetown has a rep as the San Francisco of the East, with a very large gay and lesbian community. Its funkitude suited my mood:

This guy is telling the kids they look “fancy,” which is the true definition of a pot calling a kettle black.

The Poo was sad to leave. The girl is going to remember this summer with her cousins as one of the best of her life:

And it was The Babyman’s first taste of the ocean. He went back again and again for more, screeching with delight when the stinging cold hit his toes.

Next year everything will be different. We’ll all be older, and, I hope in my case, wiser. In the meantime, I’ll print these photographs. I’ll hold them in my hands come winter time, and dream about the hot sand while the cold Illinois wind blows in my eaves.
